About this Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how data is processed when you use Pocket for iOS and Android or contact support. Pocket is a metronome and practice app with a tuner. The App processes settings and audio signals locally on your device. No user account is required.
This policy covers the App. Visits to the website hosting this policy are additionally subject to that website’s privacy notice.

Local settings and presets
Pocket stores your settings and presets, such as tempo, time signature, module configuration and your chosen preset names, in local app storage. Local identifiers associate your presets with their settings. This data is not transmitted to us and we cannot access it. Pocket does not provide its own cloud synchronisation.
Processing serves to provide the app features you request. Where this information constitutes personal data, the legal basis is Article 6(1)(b) of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Storage on, and access to, your device that is strictly necessary for explicitly requested features is based on section 25(2), point 2, of the German Telecommunications Digital Services Data Protection Act (TDDDG).
Microphone and tuner
The tuner needs microphone access to detect pitch. Microphone audio signals are processed temporarily and exclusively on your device while you use this feature. No audio recordings are stored permanently, and no audio signals are transmitted to us or third parties. Signals are not used for speech recognition or to identify individuals.
Access begins only after you grant microphone permission through your operating system. Processing is necessary to provide the tuner feature you request; where personal data is involved, it is based on Article 6(1)(b) GDPR. Strictly necessary device access is based on section 25(2), point 2, TDDDG. The operating system permission controls technical access and does not authorise additional uses of your data.
You can remove microphone permission at any time in your device settings. The tuner cannot work without this permission; the metronome and audio playback do not require microphone access.
Audio playback and system features
Pocket plays audio on your device for the metronome and practice features. Operating system features may support background playback, media controls and keeping your device awake. Permissions used for these purposes serve only these features and are not used for advertising or tracking.
Purchase through the App Store or Google Play
Pocket is available for a one-time download price. There are no additional in-app purchases or subscriptions. The relevant store handles the purchase and payment. Pocket does not request payment details, and we do not receive full credit card or bank account details through the App. RevenueCat is not used.
Apple and Google process account, transaction and technical data for their store services as independent controllers. Their processing may also take place outside the European Economic Area. See Apple’s Privacy Policy and Google’s Privacy Policy for details.
Email support
If you contact us, we process your email address, any name you provide, your message, any attachments you voluntarily send and the metadata needed to deliver email. We use this information to handle and respond to your request. Please send only the information needed for that purpose.
Our email service provider is IONOS SE, Germany. IONOS processes emails on our behalf to provide the email service. Provider information is available in IONOS’s privacy notices.
For enquiries about purchasing or using Pocket under our contract, the legal basis is Article 6(1)(b) GDPR. For other enquiries, it is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR; our legitimate interest is to respond appropriately to incoming enquiries. Retention required by law is based on Article 6(1)(c) GDPR.
Contacting support is voluntary and is not required to use the App. Without a reply address and the information needed to understand the issue, we may be unable to answer your enquiry.
Recipients, analytics and tracking
Pocket does not integrate advertising networks, tracking services, usage analytics or services that automatically transmit crash reports. We do not sell personal data or use it for behavioural advertising. We do not carry out automated decision-making, including profiling, within the meaning of Article 22 GDPR.
Pocket does not transmit locally processed app or microphone data to us or external recipients, including recipients in other countries. When you contact support, our email service provider receives the data needed to handle and deliver your message. Further disclosure occurs only where legally required.
Separate operating system or store services, such as optional device analytics and backups, are governed by your settings and the relevant provider’s privacy notices.
Retention and deletion
- Local app data: Settings and presets remain stored until removed through relevant changes, deletion of app data or a complete uninstall that includes app data. Offloading an app may retain its data. Operating system backups may persist separately and can be managed through the relevant backup service.
- Microphone: Audio signals are processed only temporarily for current pitch detection and are not stored permanently.
- Support: We delete your emails after your enquiry has been fully resolved, unless statutory retention obligations require otherwise. Records subject to such obligations are kept only for the required period and then deleted.
Children and young people
Pocket is intended for people interested in music and is not specifically directed at children, but it may also be used in music education. Local processing and the absence of accounts, advertising and tracking apply regardless of age. Parents or guardians can manage microphone permission in the device settings. Where possible, a parent or guardian should contact us on a child’s behalf for support. Any personal data received in this context is subject to the support purposes and deletion rules described above.
Your rights
Where we process personal data about you and the applicable legal conditions are met, you have rights of access (Article 15 GDPR), rectification (Article 16), erasure (Article 17), restriction of processing (Article 18) and data portability (Article 20).
Right to object: Under Article 21 GDPR, you may object to processing based on Article 6(1)(f) GDPR on grounds relating to your particular situation. We will stop that processing unless we demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds that override your interests, rights and freedoms, or the processing is needed to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
If processing is based on consent, you may withdraw it at any time for the future, without affecting the lawfulness of earlier processing. To exercise your rights, contact us at the email address above. We cannot access app data stored exclusively on your device.
You may lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, particularly in the country of your habitual residence, place of work or an alleged infringement. The authority responsible for our location is the State Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information Baden-Württemberg, Heilbronner Straße 35, 70191 Stuttgart, Germany.
Changes
We update this policy when Pocket’s features or data processing change, or when legal adjustments are needed. The date above identifies the current version.
